This module aims to expose the students to case studies in thermal analysis techniques. Emphasis will be given on the use of dynamic mechanical analysis on the thermal properties of polymers and polymer-based nanocomposites studies as well as on thermal conductivity measurements and data analysis for thermoelectrics.
The aim of this lesson is to provide literature examples on the applicability of DMA in the thermomechanical characterization of polymer-based materials. More precisely during the lesson 3 literature examples in which DMA is used to study the thermal properties of polymers and polymer-based nanocomposites will be presented and discussed.
The aim of the present lesson is to introduce the students to basic principles of thermoelectricity and the importance of the thermal conductivity measurements in this field. The students will work on specific case studies that are related to typical thermoelectric materials. Data analysis will be carried out using models that are suitable for their application of the thermoelectric materials.
